The African Communities Association (ACA) hosted a community celebration for Harmony Day at Labrador yesterday, Sunday 20th March and Zarraffa’s Coffee supplied some delicious Zarraffa’s Coffee treats to this fantastic event.
Zarraffa’s Coffee donated 500grams of coffee and a Zarraffa’s Coffee gift pack for the event and the raffle
The Harmony Day celebrations was a free event which was held at the Labrador State School.
Cr Margaret Grummit officially opened the event and along with the anticipated 400 event goers this year, the Mayor and Mrs Ron Clarke were in attendance also!
There was a number of great activities lined up for the day including;
- Performance by Pinky Hughes (a singer from Swaziland who recently launched her music CD and has been featured on many radio shows)
- African dancers and drummers
- Children’s activity table
- Beading table
- Aussie sausage sizzle
- Name writing in Swahili (visitors can have their names or special messages written in an African language)
ACA held the event to offer the community the experience of the Ethiopian coffee ceremony.
All proceeds of the raffle went towards a post-flood rebuilding initiative, as directed by the African Seniors and Elders Club, Brisbane.
